Meet our new School Psychologist! I am pleased to introduce myself to you all. My name is Conor Dahlquist and this is my first year working for Kenowa Hills Public Schools. This is my 6th school year working as a school psychologist. My role as the School Psychologist is to work with the academic and behavioral intervention teams, evaluate and assess special education services, and I have also joined the Mental Health Team at Zinser!
Down Syndrome Awareness Month raises public awareness about the condition, and advocacy for acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.
LGBT History Month started in 1994 to recognize lesbian. gay, bisexual, and transgender history and the history of the gay rights movement.
Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15) This month corresponds with Mexican Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 16, and recognizes the revolution in 1810 that ended the Spanish dictatorship.
October 10 | World Mental Health Day provides an opportunity to discuss mental health issues, eradicating mental health stigmas and highlights how much more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
October 11 | For those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, National Coming Out Day celebrates coming out and the recognition of the 1979 National March on Washington for gay and lesbian equality.
October 11 | Indigenous Peoples Day honors the cultures and histories of the Native American people. The day is centered around reflecting on their tribal roots and the tragic stories that hurt but strengthened their communities.
October 20 | International Pronoun Day seeks to make asking, sharing, and respecting personal pronouns commonplace. Together, we can transform society to celebrate people’s multiple, intersecting identities.
October 31 | Halloween evolved from the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain. Over the centuries, Halloween transitioned from a pagan ritual to a day of parties, costumes, jack-o-lanterns and trick-or-treating for kids and adults.
