Hello KHMS! As the end of the 1st trimester quickly approaches, please keep in mind that your student(s) should have some type of homework each night. Teachers use this independent practice as evidence that your child is ready to test over learning standards. It also helps students decide if they need help in class and should that be the case class is the perfect time to do so. Students also have time each week during their Connect class to complete homework or practices. Please take time to ask your student(s) if they are completing all required homework, so that they and their teachers can see their understanding.
Thank you for your support, Jim Smith, PrincipalRead More
Hello KHMS! What a great week of sunshine and nice fall weather that students were able to take advantage of during class breaks.
At a time when many of our students are active on and influenced by social media, it is important that adults are aware of social media trends and "challenges" so that we can communicate clearly with students to help them avoid unwanted consequences of impulsive actions.
Unfortunately, it seems that TikTok challenges continue to promote negative, and in some cases criminal behaviors. Please have a conversation with your student(s) regarding the negative impact these challenges could have on their futures and on the school community. These challenges break the school code of conduct and put others at risk. Some challenges encourage criminal behavior that would warrant the school contacting police.
As always, we expect and work hard at making our school a safe place to be and learn. Our priority is to partner with families to keep our kids safe.Read More
Friday is here! Our students are rocking & rolling through their first few weeks of school, falling right into a routine with our Black Day/Gold Day schedule. Connect class has been very successful for our students by starting their week off with “Map it out Mondays” and “Homework Hub” on Wednesdays and Fridays. The students have been working on their social contracts with teachers and they are being displayed in each of their classrooms. We hope you have a safe weekend and look forward to seeing everyone back here on Monday for our first full week of school!
